A baleia sem assunto

Fonte é água, pedra e fluxo. Para Thora Dolven Balke, uma continuidade para sua íntima iconografia.

 

São fontes repertoriadas no Museu do Açude, espaço familiar à artista, moradora do bairro adjacente. Ao transitar por esse espaço vizinho, ela encontra e registra as marcas do tempo fluindo na matéria – as ranhuras, o musgo, os dados do desgaste.

 

A imagem do fluxo contínuo é violenta e as cabeças da série “O”, com suas bocas abertas e vazantes, nos atingem com força.

 

Com elas, a densidade visual da produção fotográfica de Dolven Balke adquire uma indissoluta propriedade material. A imagem passa por uma transferência de meios, da fotografia para o molde e, na performance ao infinito de suas estátuas jorrantes, surge como imagem-escultura.

 

A arte aqui é o que dura: o fluxo é incorporado à forma, lançando um olhar para a dilatação do tempo e suas consequências. A morte e a sexualidade aparecem então como paradigmas para a intensidade que o trabalho de Dolven Balke concentra. São momentos onde o corpo padece, onde a certeza de controle e a estabilidade física se transformam em um estado de fragilidade e fugacidade.

 

O que está em questão não é a retórica, nenhum convencimento, mas um estado onde a vida se faz sentir dentro dela mesma, sem precisar de trajetória alguma. Só importa esse acumulado ininterrupto da história ao qual Thora Dolven Balke consegue dar volume sem jamais precisar endossar qualquer narrativa biográfica.

Na varanda do hospital, o vestido pega sol pendurado em um suporte de soro. Não há fatalidade nenhuma. Nem mesmo interrupção ou crise aparente. O tempo parece correr sem sobressaltos, alheio à lógica do incidente ou do factual.

 

A carcaça e o seio, a decomposição e o nascimento, o sangue e o leite, são instâncias da perpétua operação de sucção e bombeamento que simplesmente dá prosseguimento e coerência entre a vida e a morte.

 

Sem a retórica do presente, abre-se o espaço imemorial revelando a permanência insuspeita de nossas sensações mais longínquas que são, em verdade, as mais cotidianas meditações existenciais sobre apreciação e depreciação do corpo. As fontes da artista cristalizam o escoamento do tempo. Como nas míticas fontes da juventude ou da vida, nosso desejo é conquistar a longevidade e restaurar a libido. A morte e a sexualidade sofrem com a eterna busca pelo domínio da duração.

 

Já na costa marítima, a baleia passa a ser pedra. Não há assim reminiscências, mas o próprio infinito em idas e vindas de autoafirmação.

 

É essa espessura do tempo, essa correnteza, que Thora Dolve Balke condensa em Flow. Como se, no fundo, não estivéssemos mais do que dando vazão à vida.
